"May all Fortunate Friends who desire to liberate
from suffering (as a rare human being) should gain the maximum benefit to
terminate the trek in transmigration at time the Buddhist doctrine and the
practical training is available."
Forms, sounds, scents, savories, touches and ideas
Are agreeable and welcomed, when as desired.
Gods and humans agree that they are pleasant,
When they cease it is considered unpleasant
Noble ones see the cessation of the self, as pleasant
It's different from the view of the worldling.
Pleasant things are unpleasant to the noble ones
Unpleasant things are pleasant to the noble ones
The foolish are confused and ignorant,
And do not understand the Teaching
To the mindful and clever the Teaching,
Is clear as though seeing a light.
By those going with the stream `to be',
And in the domains of Death,
It is difficult to understand the Teaching
All do not understand enlightenment,
The extinguishing, without desires.
- Samyuktha Nikaya - Sagiyha Sutta
"To secure “Self” different kinds of fighting
methods were used but could not stop fear, shock, quake and pain. I realized
the fault and understood that the only true path Lord Buddha preached was the
Noble Dhamma. Until “Self” is within you fear, shock, quake and pain is with
you. Once “Self” leaves you fear, shock, quake and pain leaves you. Once I
realized it I went to discover the true Buddha path."
The teachings at this Monastery is given by the head priest of this monastery who had his early meditation practice – Orambhãgiya-samyojana (the low fetters) at the age of 35 years from the late Ven Amata Gavesi Thero at Devanapatis Samatha Vipassana Meditation Centre at Pallakelle and left it due to not having sufficient development in higher levels of meditation – Uddhambhãgiya-samyojana (the higher fetters). He practiced the Uddhambhãgiya Samyojana on his own at this monastery for a long period.
